Dynamic Pricing for Printing

This guide is about the Basic Pricing tab in Custy. That is where most of your printing fees live. (Custy calls the tab Basic Pricing, not Dynamic Pricing.)

You can charge a setup fee, a price when someone uploads a picture or adds text, and extra prices for photo prints, letters, or design size. You do not have to fill every box. Leave what you do not use at 0.

Step 1: Open Basic Pricing

Click Products, then Printing Types & Pricing. Click Add Printing Type, or click Edit on a type you already have. Type the Printing type name (for example Screen Print, DTG, or Embroidery). Click Active or Inactive. Stay on the Basic Pricing tab.

  • Open Add Printing Type or Edit Printing Type.
  • Type the name. Click Active or Inactive.
  • Stay on Basic Pricing.

Step 2: Setup fees

Under Setup fees, say how much to charge when someone adds a design, and when to skip that fee.

  1. 1Amount ($): the setup fee for a design on one print area
  2. 2Charge setup fee for every side: turn this on if each side of the product should get its own setup fee
  3. 3Charge setup costs for each color: turn this on if each ink color in the design should get its own setup fee
  4. 4Upload color selection type: pick Both, Color select, or Full color for uploaded pictures
  5. 5No setup costs for quantity more than: if the order is bigger than this number, skip the setup fee. Use 0 if you always want to charge setup

Step 3: Initial prices (optional)

Under Initial prices, you can charge once when someone adds certain things. You do not have to use these. Leave them at 0 if you skip them.

  • Optional: Uploaded graphics ($) if someone uploads their own picture.
  • Optional: Library cliparts ($) if someone uses art from your clipart library.
  • Optional: Text ($) if someone adds text.
  • Optional: Text & graphics combined ($) if someone adds both text and pictures together.
  • Optional: turn on All prices above count as setup fee if these amounts should follow the same setup rules (including skipping above a quantity).

Step 4: Per-unit prices (optional)

Under Per-unit prices, you can add fees that grow with the design. Again, leave unused boxes at 0.

  • Optional: Full-color photo print ($) when an uploaded picture is set to Full Color Image.
  • Optional: Price per character ($) for each letter in the text (spaces do not count).
  • Optional: Price per square inch ($) based on how big the design area is.

Step 5: Save or Update

Click Save if this is a new type. Click Update if you are editing one. Products that already use this type will use the new fees. Your products are not deleted.

  • Click Save or Update at the bottom of the window.

What to do next

If you need ink colors or price tables by color count or design size, open those guides next. Then pick the printing type on your product.
